Existential Crisis to Existential Purpose

When we realize there is a life after death, we make choices that will last for eternity.

Before we begin, check the "Guide" tab first that you can find below the blog description, if you haven't check it yet. Then, go back to this post.

Are any of you don't know their purpose in life? Are any of you can't decide about something? Are any of you don't have any idea what to do after College, what profession to take, whether to marry or not, have kids or not, what kind of dream to follow and everything that relates to our existence and purpose in Earth? Or do you already know your purpose, but is starting to have a crisis about it?

Apostle Paul has an answer to our queries that he wrote to the churches in Corinth, "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Take note of the word: whatever.

Whatever we plan to become in life, whatever we decide, whatever we do, including the mundane moments of our daily lives, our little plans for the day, big or small decisions, and literally whatever... must all be done for the glory of God.

With everything that He has provided us with, it is only right to bring back all the glory to Him. I do believe that all achievements and victories won't possibly happen without God doing the miraculous works for us. Those things can't be possible without His favor. He is the God of the Universe. Most importantly, He is our Creator Who created even the dreams we have. If God put that dream in your heart, there is a purpose.

You might not have discovered that purpose yet, but 1 Corinthians 10:31 clearly stated it for us, "For the glory of God."

Even the simple things in life like eating and drinking must be done for His glory for we cannot do that without His provision of food and water for us. When it comes to big or small decisions we make, we must choose the choice that can bring glory to His Name for we wouldn't have come up to those decisions without His guidance and wisdom.

Even the mundane moments and whatever we go through, can be seen as an opportunity to be used for His glory, simply by reading His Word, praying, journaling, and spending time in His presence. If we spend those moments, questioning our worth and purpose, it will only keep us in circles. Instead, let us use those moments seeking Him, His Kingdom, His Presence and His Word. Friends, all answers are found in Him. Our true identity lies in our Lord, Who Created us. The way He went down in Earth as a Human and died for us to save us from the punishment of our sins speaks A LOT about our worth, purpose, and identity.

Now, let's go back to the word "whatever."

John 15:7 says, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."

We all have aspirations, dreams, and goals in life. Some of you here might not have find it yet, that's why you're having an existential crisis, but here in John 15:7, Jesus says, "Remain in me."

Jesus did not say, "Remain in your aspirations, dreams, and goals." Rather, Jesus said, "Remain in me." Because, friend, the true aspiration, dream, and goal is Him. The true fulfillment can be found in Jesus, all the other things are trivial.

Before we go find our dreams, aspirations, and goals in life, Jesus wants us to go and remain in Him first. Our dream must to be with Him. Our aspiration must become like Him. Our goal must to share His gospel to all creation (Mark 16:15).

All other dreams that don't point back to Him are meaningless and purpose-lacking. Those dreams cannot be brought to the afterlife, they won’t matter after death, they will vanish when the end of the age comes.  Dreams are better achieved for the glory of God, because He is eternal, and everything He offers is for eternity. When we live this life for His glory, we will find our life purpose that lies in Him all along.

When we put our purpose into the world, it will be meaningless, and will always leave us questioning.  Meanwhile, in God, we do not have to search our purpose in Him, He shows it to us. When we realize there is a life after death, we make choices that will last for eternity. Otherwise, we are wasting our time and energy to trivial things that won’t last.

If you're having an existential crisis, take it as an opportunity to remain in Jesus. Allow Him to show you your true purpose and identity that you can only find in Him. Stop searching it in the wrong places, He bought you with a price [you were actually purchase with a precious blood of Jesus]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:20).

Prayer: God, help me find my purpose and identity in You. I don't want to feel lost and continually searching for something You have given me long ago; my identity. Help me remember that this life is not all about me, but about You who gave Your life to me, so I could live. May everything I do bring glory to You. I praise and honor You. Amen and amen.
